17.09.24: Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
"Contemplate this, and let go of the idea of a judgmental God. You have a loving God. In truth, you have love itself for a God. And love cannot do other than love. Your God is in ecstasy and there's nothing you can do about it. And if God is in ecstasy, I wonder what He sees when He looks at you?"
– Michael A. Singer, The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself
Hello, dear One,
This is probably one of the more precious love letters, as we're not only experiencing a Full Moon in Pisces today but also a lunar eclipse that is the opening gate for a set of eclipses that will occur until 2027.
Before I dive into vivid explanation mode, I'd like to say this: If you're feeling weirded out, out of control, incredibly sad, or randomly happy—it's completely natural to go through intense emotions right now.
As we know from life experience, our internal worlds often contract before they expand. So if you feel caged or dense, hang in there—something is about to resolve itself, and there will soon be more room to breathe, that's promised.
For some reason, I always feel nostalgic when writing about the archetype of Pisces. On one hand, I feel the divine, a paradisiacal state many of us yearn for, but on the other hand, I see grief and pain stemming from the desire to reach that state—whether through spiritual bypassing, drugs, or other ways we numb emotions. Because sometimes, they're too heavy to bare.
That said, this eclipse is an invitation to feel more deeply than we usually allow ourselves to feel, because only what is truly felt can be transmuted and released from our system, allowing magical alchemy to happen.
WHY IS THE MOON SUCH A MYSTERY?
Why do I write Moon Love Letters? Why not Sun, Jupiter, or Venus letters?
In Western Astrology, the Moon represents our subconscious, our hidden parts, our inner child, and the way we emotionally process the world—all the things that fascinate me.
New Moons and Full Moons are known to carry strong energy that resonates with us humans – both collectively. and personally. I mean, if the Moon can move the tides, it can surely move the waters within us too.
A Full Moon, in general, is an already emotionally charged time, but this one, in Pisces—the archetype that closes the natural zodiac—carries even deeper energy.
PISCES: WHERE ALL BECOMES ONE AGAIN
If we believe that the zodiac is a representation of the evolution of human consciousness, then Pisces' role is to bring everything back together, melting it into one so that new life (Aries) can be born again.
Pisces is connected to water, symbolizing emotion. It's tied to a transcendental impulse that activates the initial principle of evolution (Aries). The soul simultaneously desires to return to and separate from Source, a dual longing.
In consultations with people who have strong Pisces energy, 12th house placements, or significant Neptune aspects, this theme often emerges. Wanting to not feel less, to avoid pain and to find a place where there's only unconditional love.
One of my favorite images of Pisces is two water drops looking at each other, realizing they are part of the same ocean—that they are the ocean.
LUNAR ECLIPSES: TIMES OF GREAT MYSTERY
Without my astrological glasses on, eclipses might not seem all that special—they happen every year in regular cycles. But lunar eclipses, in particular, hold great mystery.
Astronomically, an eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align, and the Moon hides in Earth's shadow.
So, imagine we're experiencing a Full Moon, only amplified – a Full Moon on steroids. Everything feels deeper, more intense—and in Pisces, we melt into it.
ECLIPSES COME IN SETS
Eclipses occur in sets, and this eclipse in Pisces initiates a series of eclipses on the Virgo-Pisces axis that will continue until 2027. So, understanding the Pisces-Virgo polarity and reflecting on what you are going through right now, will make you grasp the process that is awaiting you until 2027. Big times.
PISCES: THE ULTIMATE HEALING JOURNEY VS. DISILLUSIONMENT
As the ultimate archetype in the zodiac, Pisces carries healing energy. When we work with Pisces, it's time to embrace acceptance, surrender, and trust that a higher force is at play. Nothing to control, to fix or over-optimize (Virgo). Pisces asks us to deeply lean into life and let ourself flow in the mystery of it.
Like all archetypes, Pisces can be lived in both shadow and light. In its higher frequency, it represents dreams, salvation, and a state of non-duality. In its shadow, it can manifest as illusion, addiction, spiritual bypassing, and the desire to escape the human experience, not having boundaries.
If you want to understand more about how it will impact your personal experience, look in which houses fall into 25° of Pisces and Virgo into your chart. That's the houses the cosmos asks you to focus on within the next 2 years.
VIRGO: ROLLING UP OUR SLEEVES TO DO THE WORK
When we fall into the shadow of one archetype, we can find balance by exploring its opposite—here, Virgo.
Virgo reminds us that spirituality must be grounded in the earth and our human experience. To reach the highest branches, we must first root deeply in our humanity. After all, we all have to pay rent, buy food and make a human life work. So it's worth asking, where we're currently asked to take responsibility.
Only by fully embracing our humanness can we access higher states of consciousness. Anything else is just a shortcut.
When Virgo falls into its shadow though, it asks, “How can I be better? How can I perfect myself? Am I good enough? Will God forgive me?”
And Pisces, with its compassionate eyes, responds: “My dear child, there is nothing to forgive. There never was. Love is your birth right.”
LUNAR ECLIPSE: LETTING GO THROUGH SELF-FORGIVENESS
This lunar eclipse in Pisces reminds us that the ultimate surrender is self-forgiveness. And no, this isn't about you forgiving those who hurt you.
Ultimately, it's about forgiving ourselves. Forgiving ourselves for making choices that have hurt us, for trusting people who betrayed us, and for harming ourselves when we acted out of survival. Because we didn't know better.
THE PISCES HEALING BALM: IT'S OKAY, DEAR CHILD
Maybe this Pisces lunar eclipse is a time to look in the mirror with deep compassion and embrace the fact that we might haven't been our best selves—and that's okay, because fucking up is a part of being human.
To come to peace with our imperfections and accept that we didn't know better at the time or weren't in the space to make different choices.
If there's anything we can practice today, it's this.
NEPTUNE RIGHT NEXT TO THE MOON
Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of illusion, dreams, healing, and the divine.
During this Full Moon, Neptune sits close by, almost shouting, “Surrender, forgive yourself, and if you feel like melting away, I'll hold you.”
Seeing where Neptune lives in your own birth chart, could give you another hint of what will help you dealing with the next eclipse season on the Virgo-Pisces-axis.
Neptune's influence often brings illusion, so it's wise to wait, observe, and avoid making major decisions right away until the fog is cleared and you can see clear.
QUESTIONS THE MOON WOULD ASK
If the Moon could speak today, it might ask:
What is ending for you during this time?
What emotions need to be felt before they can transform? How can you make space for them? How can you forgive yourself for not always having been your best self?
How can you surrender control and trust to a higher power?
What makes you feel connected? Nature? Touch? A conversation? Your pet?
What are you holding onto that is ready to be released?
MAKING PEACE WITH THE UNKNOWN
Pisces reminds us that life remains a mystery. The more we embrace the Unknown, the more present we become. The more love we'll be able to feel.
For some years now, I've lived by a quote from one of Kim Krans' Archetype Guidebooks:
“My magnum opus is the constant practice of not knowing and not having the answers, yet showing up in devotion to the search. In this way, I remain a student, trusting the alchemical mottos: ONE DOOR OPENS THE NEXT and MORE WILL BE REVEALED.”
For the next two weeks—the mystical time between eclipses—we are asked to trust and surrender, to remain students of life, and to let go while practicing deep self-care, self-love, and self-respect. And isn't that what true love is about?
With love,
Karina
