15.11.24: Full Moon in Taurus
“To be sensual, I think, is to respect and rejoice in the force of life, of life itself, and to be present in all that one does, from the effort of loving to the breaking of bread.”
― James Baldwin, The Fire Next Time
Hello Dear One,
It feels like we're all moving through turbulent times—both individually and collectively. I sense many people are on the edge of their emotional capacity, feeling overwhelmed.
But then again, how could it be any different in Scorpio season? While the Sun is traveling through Scorpio, we’re blessed with a grounding Full Moon in Taurus—a chance to slow down, reconnect with our senses, and hopefully find the calm we’re all craving.
FULL MOONS: TIMES OF CULMINATION
As you probably know by now, Full Moons are times of culmination. The Moon is “pregnant” with something, a process you’ve been moving through for the past two weeks.
It appears full to us because, astrologically, the Sun is in direct opposition to the Moon, casting its light (consciousness) onto our hidden parts that linger in the darkness (the Moon). This is a powerful time for reflection—to consider your recent journey, what reaches culmination today, and how you might honor this process by slowing down. And here we are, on Taurus’ earthy ground.
TAURUS: SLOWING DOWN THE CARDINAL FIRE WITH EARTHY STABILITY
Looking at the zodiac as a reflection of the evolution of consciousness, Aries is that sacred fire born from Pisces’ oneness. A new cycle begins at the equinox, and the Ram bursts from the womb of Pisces, asking, “Who am I in this world?”
Determination, excitement, curiosity, and restlessness await us in Aries.
Logically, in Taurus, this cardinal fire slows down. It’s as if Taurus says to Aries, “Hey, slow down a bit. You can’t just leap around the universe like a fireball. You have a body, needs, and a real necessity to rest.”
To which Aries might reply, “No way! I have things to do, experiences to gain. I can’t just sit around like you.”
And Taurus, with a deep breath and closed eyes, replies, “There’s so much for a young Ram like you to learn. I have something priceless: time. There’s no rush, no urgency here. If you only knew the bliss of presence, of slowing down, you’d understand.”
SENSUALITY AS AN ANTIDOTE TO SOCIETY'S STARVATION MENTALITY
In superficial astrology, Taurus is often cast as materialistic, focused on resources and stability. But when we look deeper, we can ask: Why? What lies beneath this drive?
In Taurus, there’s a deep-rooted need for attachment to secure one’s existence. This attachment shows up in the body—in touch, smell, taste, and pleasure. But it also appears in attachments to childhood items, physical possessions, furniture, financial assets, or art. Let’s not forget that Taurus is ruled by Venus.
Taurus also reflects our values and self-worth. To me, the material focus often associated with Taurus mirrors our society's shadow, where we try to fill an inner emptiness with possessions.
With limited space to find true self-worth, we often try to satisfy our insecurity and hunger with material things, which, as many of you know, doesn’t lead to lasting fulfillment. Instead, we get stuck in a cycle of depletion and scarcity.
GAINING SELF-WORTH THROUGH SENSUALITY
Every archetype has its own medicine, and for Taurus, the antidote to material focus may lie in cultivating sensuality.
When I say “sensuality,” what do you think of? Often, we link it to intercourse, but Taurus teaches us it’s so much more.
Sensuality is coming back to our bodies, deeply experiencing through our senses, and arriving fully in the present moment. This inner fullness builds a sustainable self-worth, fed by our inner experiences rather than external circumstances.
“So how does this look in practice, Karina?” you might be wondering. My answer: Fall in love with the present moment.
QUESTIONS THE MOON WOULD ASK:
Where in my life could I allow myself to slow down and find grounding?
How can I bring more sensuality and presence into my daily life?
What small moments have I rushed past that could bring me more joy if I took my time with them?
How do I truly feel about my own self-worth, and how can I nurture it from within?
What attachments—material or emotional—am I holding onto that may no longer serve me?
In what ways can I reconnect with my body and honor its wisdom and rhythms?
How might my focus on external achievements or possessions be masking a deeper inner longing?
URANUS IN THE MIX CAUSING TROUBLE
Uranus is cozying up to this Taurus Full Moon, which means we’re in for a bit of cosmic disruption – the kind that shakes up our routines just when we thought we were comfortable.
Uranus is the planet of sudden changes, rebellion, and those “I didn’t see that coming” moments, so if you’re feeling an unexpected urge to flip the script in some part of your life (or if life has just thrown a surprise party you didn’t ask for), welcome to the magic of Uranus.
This energy invites us to embrace the unpredictable and loosen our grip on control—because, let’s be real, we all know Taurus loves a good plan, and Uranus? Not so much.
OUR WAY BACK HOME
And so, as we step into this Taurus Full Moon, perhaps it’s a gentle call to slow down, to find that stable ground within ourselves. To feel our bodies deeply. To feel our little finger, little toe, the tip of our nose and the corners of our lips.
Life doesn’t always need to be loud or busy to be meaningful. It can be simple moments—a warm drink, the softness of a sweater, the quiet breath in between tasks—that ground us back to our own essence.
When we let ourselves sink into these small pleasures, we reconnect to our own worth beyond the hustle. And life becomes meaningful from within.
In the words of Rumi, "Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray."
So, as I journey through this Full Moon with you, remember to let these little moments lead you back to yourself, to your senses, and to the simple joy of being alive in your sacred body.
With love,
Karina
